Nancy J. Mabry

September 14, 2015 Mrs. Nancy Jonas Mabry, age 68, of 4715 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Mabry was born in Cripple Creek, VA, August 2, 1947, a daughter of the late Gordon Tate Jonas and Peggy Whittaker Jonas. She was a graduate of Converse College and received her Masters of Education from USC-Upstate. Mrs. Mabry was retired from the Union Co. School District as a teacher at Buffalo Elementary School and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Mabry of Las Cruces, NM and Cathy M. Freeman and husband Josh of Union; a sister, Sally J. Gotkiewicz of Montgomery, AL; a brother, Danny Jonas of Max Meadows, VA; two granddaughters, Abbey and Aryn Freeman; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dachshund, Ginger. A celebration of life service will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Crestview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Josh Freeman. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the services. Staff and teachers of Buffalo Elementary School are asked to sit in a group. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, 1100 Furman L. Fendley Hwy., Union, SC 29379 or to St. Judes Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Cathy and Josh Freeman, 112 Bridletrail Lane, Union.
