Mr. Ned Edsel Ivey age 88, of 734 Sugar Creek Rd., Buffalo, widower of Geraldine McBride Ivey, passed away Sunday June 1, 2014 at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mr. Ivey was born in Union, January 12, 1926, a son of the late Ben Clifford Ivey, Sr. and Anna Harris Ivey. Mr. Ivey was a farmer and had also been involved in the building of Sugar Creek Racetrack. He is survived by two sons, Jerry Ivey and wife Patricia and Mike Ivey and wife Paulette all of Buffalo; four sisters, Anna Lou Tipton and Rudelle Morris both of Union, Goldie Jordan of Florida and Barbara Summer of Greenville; and one brother, Ben Ivey Jr. and wife Jeanette of Union; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Ivey was predeceased by one sister and four brothers. Graveside services will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the cemetery located on family property, 734 Sugar Creek Rd. Buffalo, conducted by Rev. Melvin Shelton and Rev. Rick Henderson. Active pallbearers will be Brad Lawson, Jason Ivey, Steve Freeman, Gene Revis, Stephen Howell and Josh Bevis. The following are asked to form the honorary escort, Jim Rice, Wayne Palmer, Lewis Harrison, Jerry Burgess, Rolph Toney, Ralph Smith and Michael Smith. Mr. Ivey will be carried to the home Tuesday where the family will receive friends. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
