Nell Henderson

Mrs. Nell Meadows Henderson, age 85, widow of Gerald G. Henderson of 2273 Hunters Lane, Blairs, VAwent home to be with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, whom she faithfully served, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving children, Tim Henderson (Teresa), John "John Boy" Henderson (Wanda) and Jill Howell (Doug).

Mrs. Henderson was born in Union, December 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Dolman and Louise Garner Meadows. She was a graduate of Union High School (Class of 1955). She was the first female officer to work for the City of Union police department and later retired from the City of Danville, Virginia as a dispatcher.  Mrs. Henderson was a member of Ottaray Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, then after moving to Virginia, Mrs. Henderson and her husband, Gerald joined Blairs Baptist Church where she continued her love of the Bible and spreading the word of Jesus Christ, by teaching Sunday school and working with the youth in the church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Mrs. Henderson was an avid Clemson Tiger fan and former IPTAY member and avid Atlanta Braves fan.

Surviving in addition to her loving children, she was blessed with a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy M. Culbertson of Union; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Henderson was predeceased by a sister, Sue Bishop Jones and two brothers, Arlen and Alvin Meadows.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Don McCutcheon. Visitation will be held immediately following the services at the cemetery.
