Nellie Austin Alexander

Mrs. Nellie Austin Alexander, age 81, of 569 Morris Bridge Rd., Roebuck, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Union Co., July 19, 1941, a daughter of the late Roy and Alice Peahuff Austin. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Hoechst Fiber. Mrs. Alexander was a member of Gilead Baptist Church. She was a very outgoing and independent lady who was also a breast cancer survivor.

Surviving is a daughter, Joni Waldt of Pauline; two sons, Terry Alexander of Union and Johnny "Bit" Alexander, Jr. of Gaffney; a sister, Mary Lois Grant of Woodruff; four grandchildren, Tashia M. Dehart, Clay Alexander, Brady Alexander all of Union and Kelley Alexander of North Carolina; and a great-granddaughter, Katie Walker. Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by her longtime companion, Bobby H. O'Dell; two brothers, Dave Russell Austin, William David Austin and Leroy Austin, Jr. and a sister, Johnnie Ruth Faulk.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 1, 2022 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Eddie Saxon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Clay Alexander, Bradley Alexander, Devin Dehart, Charles Belk and Claude Burgess.

The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.
