Nellie Babb Cartee

Mrs. Nellie Ruth Babb Cartee, age 82, of 116 Francis Ave., Union, widow of Willie Edgar Cartee, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at her home.

Mrs. Cartee was born in Union, December 3, 1941, a daughter of the late Clyde Jackson Lunsford and Alice Beheler O'Shields. She was retired from Milliken and Co., Cedar Hill Plant and was a member of Ottaray Baptist Church. She served her church as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the WMU.

Surviving are her companion for a number of years, Harvey Buchanan of the home; two daughters, Debbie Davis of Buffalo and Tonya Tucker and husband Earl of Aiken; a sister, Eliza Bright of Union and a brother, Leonard Lunsford of Jonesville. She is also survived by grandchildren, Sandy Long and husband Zach, Aiden Davis and Veyda Davis; step-granddaughters, Wanda Wicks and Bonnie Lee and great-grandsons, Brayden Davis, Mason Long; and a great-granddaughter and caregiver, Taylor Lee. She was predeceased by two sons, Rickey Babb and Donnie Babb, a grandson, Christopher Babb and two brothers, Donald Beheler and Steve Lunsford.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 22, 2024 at Ottaray Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Walter Holcombe and Rev. Ricky Cook. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Braydyn Mullins, Trevor Robinson, Dustin Scruggs, Jack Anderson, Jimmy Lunsford, Tristan Beckham and Earl Tucker. Members of the Ladies Sunday School class of Ottaray Baptist are asked to sit in a group.

Mrs. Cartee will be carried to the home 116 Francis Ave., Union, Friday, January 19, 2024 where the family will receive friends until the day of the service.
