Mrs. Nellie Eppley Loftis, age 85, wife of Larry Loftis, of 114 Deepwater Road, Union, went to be with the Lord, Sunday November 30, 2025 with her precious husband by her side.
Mrs. Loftis was born November 8, 1940, in Campobello, a daughter of the late Roy O’Dell Eppley and Sarah Louise Lance Eppley Holzman. She moved from Duncan to Greenwood in 1980 and later retired from Pfizer. Mrs. Loftis was a member of New Life Baptist Church where she loved working with the nursery and teaching children about the love and saving grace of Jesus in Sunday School. She also served with the Benevolence and Hostess Committee and was a member of the WMU. She loved her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. Mrs. Loftis would prepare large meals, eager to have a favorite dish for each person. She was a very gracious hostess and an avid reader.
Surviving in addition to her loving husband of 66 years, are three daughters, Sandra Loftis Stephenson and her husband, Brian, who live in Greenwood. Twin daughters living in Union are Lisa Loftis Morrow and her husband, Kevin and Teresa Loftis Pickens and her husband, Gregg. In 2002, Mr. and Mrs. Loftis moved to Union to enjoy their grandchildren. Those grandchildren are grandsons, David Morrow, Joshua Loftis Pickens (Allison), Dr. Brandon Loftis Stone, Benjamin Loftis Stone, John Caleb Pickens and his special friend, Madeline Gilstrap, great grandchildren, Walter Loftis Pickens, Bailey Lynn Pickens, Bayla Anne Morrow and Cullen Asher Morrow. She also leaves behind sisters, Faye Holzman (Harold) of AZ, Carolyn Henson of Landrum, brothers, Philip Eppley (Geraldine) of Tigerville, Fred Eppley (Beth) of Taylors and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members that she deeply loved. Mrs. Loftis was predeceased by her step-father whom she adored, Bill Holzman, a brother, Donald Eppley and a brother-in-law, Bobby Dean Henson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2025 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shannon Faulkner and Rev. Dr. Clarence Atkins. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin Morrow, Gregg Pickens, Josh Pickens, Caleb Pickens, David Morrow and Ben Stone. The Senior Sunday School Class and the WMU of New Life Baptist Church along with special friends Mr. and Mrs. Dean Brown, Joey and Sara Beth Gregory and Rick and Sherry Dupree are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and compassion provided for Mrs. Loftis by Agape Hospice, Dr. Helen Stocklinger, Jenn Cudd, Sandra Nance, and Kirklyn English. A special granddaughter-in-law, Allison Pickens (formerly of Greenwood) lovingly provided daily assistance and care.
The family is at the home, 114 Deepwater Road, Union, SC.
