Nellie Jones Mclane Whitmire, Sc

Mrs. Nellie Jones McLane, age 94 of 111 Douglass Heights, Union, formerly of Whitmire, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at her home. Mrs. McLane was born in White Rock, SC March 25, 1920, a daughter of the late John Stuart Jones and Mary Meetze Jones. She was a graduate of Dentsville High School in Columbia and was a member of Heritage Wesleyan Church where she had worked with the Children's Ministry. Surviving are three daughters: Janie M. Speight and husband Duke of Spartanburg, Margaret M. Kitchens of Whitmire and Josephine "Jo" M. McKenna with whom she made her home; two sisters: Marybell Gardner of Spartanburg and Emily Dunker of Alexandria, VA; nine grandchildren: Dianne S. Matlock and husband Ron, Marcia S. Shealy and husband Steve, David Simmons and wife Lavenia, Kristy Egan and husband John, J. Michael Kitchens and wife Sara, Larry O. Kitchens, Randy Kitchens and wife Cecillia, Deborah T. Faulkner and husband and Bill, Kimberly T. Glenn and husband Edgar; sixteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. McLane was predeceased by a son, Henry Stuart McLane and two brothers, Leonard Jones and John Stuart Jones, Jr. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Heritage Wesleyan Church in Whitmire conducted by Rev. Mark Stevenson and Rev. Robert Branch. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be the following grandsons: David Simmons, Randy Kitchens, Lance Kitchens, D. Michael Kitchens, William Faulkner and Edgar Glenn. Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday in the church prior to the service.
