Nina M. Austin

Mrs. Nina Mease Austin, age 94 of 104 Edgewood Dr., Duncan, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026 at her home.

Mrs. Austin was born in Canton, NC, April 4, 1932 a daughter of the late Robert Leaton Mease and Amy Henson Mease Holcombe. She moved with her family to Union in 1942 and graduated from Union High School in 1952. Mrs. Austin retired from United Merchants and previously worked at Monarch Mill. She was a member of Putman Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Sheila Bailey and husband Dwayne Cox of Duncan; step grandchildren, Kayla Cox and Ryan Cox and a special great grandson, Austin Cox; a brother, R.L. Mease of Florida and a sister, Loretta Patrick of Union. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Emmalee Inman, Berlyn Head, Donna Jean Youngblood, Nadine McCall, Pauline Sanders and Jaynelle Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Donald Tillman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Patrick, Troy Patrick, Jeff Lawson, Mark Lawson, David Cosgrove and Dwayne Cox.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at the church prior to the services.
