January 3, 2016 Mr. Olin D. Lee, Sr., age 80, of 1005 E. Main St., Union, widower of Shirley Smith Lee, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2015 at his home. Mr. Lee was born in Lockhart, SC on January 19, 1935 a son of the late Russell Lee and Oda Belle Cook Lee. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and attended Spartanburg Methodist College. Mr. Lee was a retired from Union Mill as an Electrician and from Union County Schools as a custodian. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War in Okinawa. Mr. Lee was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he was a willing servant for his Lord and served on numerous committees and was also as a Sunday school teacher and a certified Lay Speaker. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are a daughter, Elisa Jane Simpson of the home; a son Russ Lee and wife Dena of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Kristen Motts, Brandy Simpson and husband Corey, Matt Etling, and Robert Landon Etling; three great grandchildren, Lily Amalie, and Corey, III. He was predeceased by one son, Del Lee; one grandson, Kent Lee; two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2015 at Bethel United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:45 PM until 1:45 PM at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Highway, Union, SC 29379. The family is at their respective homes.
