Oscar Sam Dawkins

October 26, 2018 Mr. Oscar Sam Dawkins, age 92, of 1042 Meansville Rd., Union, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at Rosecrest Rehab Center. Mr. Dawkins was born April 3, 1926 in Union, a son of the late Barth Dawkins and Mamie Miller Dawkins. He was retired from Milliken & Co.-Monarch Plant. Mr. Dawkins was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Putman Baptist Church. Mr. Dawkins was a well-known farmer in Union County and Bee Keeper. He was first married to the late Omahlee West Dawkins. Surviving are a daughter, Janet D. Krpata and husband Thomas of Union; a sister, Judith Greene of FL; a granddaughter, Krystal Darling of Union; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Varner and Kyleigh Varner both of Union; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven siblings and one granddaughter, Kelli Krpata. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 28, 2018 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Walter Holcombe. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Putman Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family is at the home of his daughter, Janet D. Krpata, 935 Meansville Rd., Union, SC 29379.
