Paul T. Bell, Sr.

Mr. Paul T. Bell, Sr., age 85, husband of Mary Ann Sanders Bell of 655 Sardis Road, Union, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Saluda Nursing Center. Mr. Bell was born in Union, SC December 3, 1931 a son of the late Leber Bell and Bessie Johns Bell. He was a 1949 graduate of Union High School and retired from the United States Postal Service-Union Post Office. Mr. Bell was a Veteran of the United States Air Forces during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir, the Men's Class and a Deacon. Mr. Bell was past chair of the Union County Recreation Commission and past Post Commander of American Legion Post 22. He was a member of Union Masonic Lodge #75, York Rite Temple, and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. Mr. Bell was a former member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are, one daughter, Anita Latham of Columbia; two sons, Tommy Bell and wife Leslie of Ellington, FL and Wayne Bell and wife Denise of Saluda, SC; nine grandchildren, Kristy Waddell and husband Wayne, Elizabeth Bell and fiancée Shannon Gregory, Geoffrey Latham and wife Keely, Kacie Latham and husband David Tollison, Austin Bell, Ty Bell, Noah Bell, Barrett Lollis, and Lindsay Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Ham and Autumn Latham; and one brother-in-law, Donald Ray Sanders and wife Cherryl of Union. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 3, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tommy Vaughn. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Geoffrey Latham, Austin Bell, Ty Bell, Noah Bell, Wayne Waddell, Shannon Gregory, David Tollison, and Dale Latham. The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, the Men's Sunday School Class of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Wilbur Smith, Odis Edwin Fuller, Donald Ray Sanders, Dr. Jeff Craft, Dr. Bill Sawyer, Dr. Tom Young, Ned Bell, William Smith, Bobby Fleming, Don Shetley, Sam White, Randy Wilburn, Benji Reynolds, Tommy Anthony and David Rogers. Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, 950 W.
