Paul Kent Wells

September 25, 2017 Mr. Paul Kent Wells, age 75, husband of Jan Smith Wells of 278 Dupree Farm Rd., Buffalo, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at his home. Mr. Wells was born and raised in Buffalo, SC a son of the late Cecil Paul Wells and Catherine West Wells Finch. He was a graduate of Union High School and also attended Carlisle Military School for two years. Mr. Wells was retired from Torrington & Co-Tyger River Plant. He was a member of Putman Baptist Church where he had previously served on as a Deacon, on the Finance Committee, and on the Building and Grounds Committee. Mr. Wells was also a member of Buffalo Redman Tribe, the Union County Cattlemen's Association, and a Board Member of the Union County Farm Bureau. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Candy Wells Flynn and husband Jimmy of Woodruff and Sadie Wells Hallman and husband Todd of Batesburg; one son, Paul Wallace Wells and wife April of Buffalo; one sister, Linda Betenbaugh and husband Bruce of Buffalo; one brother, Stanley Wells and wife Brenda of Buffalo; ten grandchildren, Jake McCall, Corey McCall and wife Lauren, Tara F. Crowe and husband Brandon, Chandler Wells, John Carter Wells, Blake Jordan, Hunter Jordan, Emily Jordan, Wells Hallman, and Kendall Hallman; seven great-grandchildren, Bryanna Crowe, Kylie Crowe, William Crowe, Leonidas McCall, Cowen McCall, Kathleen McCall and Aria McCall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Don Tillman and Rev. Lynn Ford. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Mr. Wells grandsons, Corey McCall, Jake McCall, Chandler Wells, Wells Hallman, John Carter Wells, and Brandon Crowe. The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers, Russ and Kaye Ratliff, Dudley and Hazel Adams, Julia Adams, Courtney Jennings, Gary Griffin, Jimmy Johnson, Vic Elliott, Samuel Elliott, and Sam Elliott. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Putman Baptist Church, 3698 Buffalo West Springs Highway, Buffalo, SC 29321 or to M.S.A. Hospice, 720 S. Duncan Bypass, Suite C, Union, SC 29379.
