Paulretta Gault Rutledge

Ms. Paulretta Gault Rutledge, age 75 of 713 Arthur Blvd. Union, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Ms. Rutledge was born in Union, December 17, 1948, a daughter of the late William J. Gault, Sr. and Christine Berry Gault. She was a 1967 graduate of Union High School where she was a member of the Lady Jackets basketball team. Ms. Rutledge retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing and had also worked at Belk department store and more recently with her nephew at Gault Small Engine Repair. She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Ashley Beaty of Union; two grandchildren, Daniel Ryan Lee and Peyton Beaty; a nephew, Jeffrey Gault; a niece, Christy Gault Scott and husband Chris; and great nieces, Emma and Anna Scott. She is also survived by many cousins including a special cousin/sister, Debbie Farr Rash and husband Mack; a god son, Jeff Farr; a special uncle, Jerry Gault and a special friend, Pat Blackwell. She was predeceased by a brother, William J. "Billy" Gault, Jr., and god son, Scott Farr.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, December 29, 2023 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ron Culbertson, Rev.  Brad Goodale and Rev. Robert Scott. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Friday at the chapel prior to the services.

The following are asked to serve as the honorary pallbearers, Jack Rector, Jerry Williams, Steve Howell, Mark Lee, Frank Lee, Mason Lee, Billy Wayne Scott, Mike Scott, Bryan Gault, Kris Gault and Thom Berry. Members of the Lady Jackets basketball teams from 1966 and 1967 are asked to sit in a group.

Memorials may be made to Philippi Baptist Church, 327 Philippi Church Rd., Union, SC or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
