Ms. Pearl Smith Inman, age 86, of 268 Old Pump Station Rd., Union passed away Friday, August 28, 2026,at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Ms. Inman was born May 21, 1940, in Union, SC., a daughter of the late Claude Preston Smith and Annie Belle Palmer Smith. She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. Ms. Inman worked for Lockhart Mill for 34 years until the mill closed and later worked as a caregiver. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Ms. Inman loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking and canning, doing word search, bluegrass music and reading Janette Oke books.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Inman Blalock (Timothy) and Carol Craig, one son, Carl “Knocker” Inman (Michelle) all of Union; Grandchildren: Melinda Butler, Charles Craig (Jessica), Amy Craig, Clara Inman, Heather Strickland (Jeremy), Brandy Inman (Chris), Edward Inman (Hailey), Lacey Duke, Wyatt Christian; thirty-one great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; brothers, James Monroe Smith and Claude Kenneth Smith (Debbie); a brother-in-law, Preston Thomas (Connie); daughter-in-law, Christine Inman; son-in-law, Guy Craig; a number of special nieces and nephews; and three special caregivers, Shannon Sumner, Donna Burris and Kelli Edwards.
She was predeceased in death by Clarence “Bo” Inman with whom she shared a family and a lifetime of memories; she was also predeceased by two grandsons, Danny Inman and Wesley Thomason and a great-grandson, Logan Adams; a grandson-in-law, Jason Butler; brothers and sisters: Lincoln Julius “LJ” Smith, Harold Smith (Josephine), William Charles Smith, Carl Lewis Smith (Thelma), Hazel Gregory (Joe), Gilbert “Nig” Smith, Sr., Della Ann Smith Deal (Tiger), and Linda Faye Thomas.
Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, August 31, 2026 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Mark Truitt and Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Collin Duke, Derek Montford, Blake Butler, Thomas Nichols, Mikey Mosley, Gabriel Inman and Hayden Inman.
The family will be at her home, where they will receive friends, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday evening, August 30, 2026.
