Peggy Lou Crawford Vaughan

Mrs. Peggy Lou Crawford Vaughan, age 86, widow of Biron B. "Jake" Vaughan passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Heartland of Union. Mrs. Vaughan was born in Union, SC on April 12, 1929 a daughter of the late Herod Simpson Crawford and Ella Keisler Crawford. She was raised in Thornwell Orphanage from childhood until she graduated from Thornwell High School. Mrs. Vaughan worked for Conso Products as a machine operator. She was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the choir and served on the Hostess and Greeter Committees. Surviving are a son, Simp Vaughan and wife Patty of Union; a daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Crain of Moncks Corner; five grandchildren, Megan Vaughan Dunlap and husband Kal, Whitney Lynn Vaughan, Shannon Michelle Brock, James Clayton Brock and wife Wendy, and Heather Ann Graham; five great-grandchildren, Bailey Clayton Brock, Ellyson Brock, Lily Graham, Luke Graham, and James Vaughan Dunlap; one sister, Marguerite C. Greer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vaughan was predeceased by two sisters, Aurie Wingo and Josephine Belue; one brother, Jack Crawford; and one niece, Joyce Belue. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Robert Chapman, Rev. Tommy McManus, and Mr. Jerry Gossett. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be, Paul Greer, II, Paul Greer, III, Robbie Branham, Dennis Moore, Michael Tyler, Clay Brock, and Kal Dunlap. The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, Frances Greer, Frances Brasington, Frances Edwards, Fran Belk, and Mary Ann Bell. Members of Mrs. Vaughan's Sunday School Class and the staff of Heartland Nursing Home and Assisted Living are asked to sit in a group. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund, 915 S. Pinckney St., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of her son, Simp and Patty Vaughan, 107 Hidden Hill Rd., Union, 29379.
