Phyllis Martin Gentry

Ms. Phyllis Martin Gentry, age 82 of 222 South Boyce Street, Apt A1, Union, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at her home. Ms. Gentry was born in Hendersonville, NC May 10, 1935, a daughter of the late William Martin and Mable Jackson Martin. She was a graduate of Edneyville High School, NC and was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant. Ms. Gentry was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she served on the Clothes Closet Committee. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Eaves (Richard) of Union; a son, Lynn Cole (Tamara) of Spartanburg; a sister, Jo Ann Kinley of Matthews, NC; two brothers: Grady Martin of Hendersonville, NC and Reginald Martin of Gainesville, OH; four grandchildren: Melinda Sorrell (Kenneth), Jennifer Barber (Joseph Edwards) all of Union; Tyler Cole and Jordan Cole both of Spartanburg; four great-grandchildren: Joshua Sorrell (Sequaia), Nathinal Sorrell, Blair Edwards, Kayle Sorrell all of Union; a great-great-granddaughter, Myla Sorrell. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Robert Stollger. Active pallbearers will be Joseph Edward, Kenneth Sorrell, Joshua Sorrell, Nathaniel Sorrell, John Paul Sorrell and Cody Darling. Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM at the graveside prior to the service. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 405 E. Main Street, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Melinda and Kenneth Sorrell, 217 Hummingbird Lane, Union.
