Rachel Ferrell Mcmanus

Mrs. Rachel Ferrell McManus, age 82, wife of the Rev. Tommy McManus of 105 Wingfield Drive, Union, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at her home.

Mrs. McManus was born February 19, 1940, in the Effingham community in Florence SC, a daughter of the late Douglas C. and Ethel Kirby Ferrell.  She retired from Arthur State Bank where she worked as a customer service representative. The McManus family came to Union County in 1983 to serve Philippi Baptist Church and made Union their home. She was a

member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a former choir member. Mrs. McManus was very active in Christian endeavors at numerous churches where she and Rev. McManus served. She focused her attention on her family especially her grandchildren. Mrs. McManus was a graduate of St. John High School and Winthrop College.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Alan McManus (Janet) of Matthews, NC; two daughters, Lynn Branham (Robbi) of Clover and Catherine Childers (Eric) of Union; a brother, Bobby Ferrell (Roberta) and two sisters, Mary Jane Lefevre (Charles) and Billie Sloan; five grandchildren, Morgan McManus Sembrat (Nick), Emily Thomas (Matthew), Amy Branham, Emma Cate Childers, and Carson Childers. She was predeceased by a sister, Miriam Sirmon.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Gary Ward and Rev. Brian Redding. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active Pallbearers will be Doug Ferrell, Jay Sirmon, Will Sirmon, Scott McManus, Jakie Thomas McManus and Damon Mungo.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2022, at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
