Mr. Edward R. "Randy" Mathis, age 65, husband of Sharon Mathis, of 232 Ma's Rd., Pacolet, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Mathis was born October 8, 1959 in Augusta, GA, a son of the late George Mathis and Ruby Lynn Wells Mathis.  He was a graduate of Broome High School and the SC Fire Academy.  Mr. Mathis retired from North Spartanburg Fire Department and had previously worked at Pacolet Fire Department where he served as Captain, Chief of Rescue 6, and had worked as a Supervisor of Union County EMS. He was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, on the Radio Ministry, in the choir and played the bass guitar.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Adrian Mathis and wife Rebecca of Campobello; a daughter, Regina Mathis of Pacolet; six grandchildren, Alyssa Nappi, Anthony Nappi, Ava Nappi, Kaleigh Lambert, Pheobe Mathis, and Amelia Mathis; a sister, Debbie Padgett and husband Darrel of Pacolet; and a large number of other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chip Coleman, Rev. Stephen Owens, Rev. Ralph Jett, and Chief Jonathan Wells.  Burial will follow at Pacolet Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM, prior to the services at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

The family will be at their respective homes.
