Ray C. Finch

Mr. Raymond Cyril "Ray" Finch, age 78, husband of Karen Lawson Finch of 1566 Kelly Rd., Union, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Finch was born in Surrey County, England, September 12, 1945, a son of the late Cyril and Dorothy Vidler Finch. He was retired from the South Carolina Dept. of Corrections, Tyger River Facility. Mr. Finch was a member of Philippi Baptist Church and was a member of the Mt. Joy Masonic Lodge. He was very active in the community serving as a volunteer with Neighbor Helping Neighbor and volunteered at Wallace Thompson Hospital. He was a member of the Board of Kelly-Kelton Fire Department and was a past member of the Motor City Car Club in Oshawa, Canada.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Chris Finch of Hickory, NC, Tim Finch and wife Renea of Toronto, Canada, and Brad Horne and wife Kindra of Buffalo; two daughters, Tonya Johnson and husband Rodney of Union and Shannon Sumner and husband Richie of Buffalo; a sister, June Collins of Whitby, Canada and a brother, Kevin Finch and wife Ivy of Costa Rico. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Shannaleigh Finch, Dillon Sumner, Jade Finch, Blake Johnson, Gabby Manus, Ethan Sumner, Lindsey Johnson, Trent Horne, Sophie Finch, Charles Finch and Harvey Finch. He was predeceased by a brother, John Finch.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 8, 2024 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Scott. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Dillon Sumner, Ethan Sumner, Blake Johnson, Trent Horne, Ryan Leonard and Richie Sumner.

The family will be at the home, 1566 Kelly Rd., Union.
