Mr. Ray Wilson Freeman, age 88, husband of Ruby Sherbert Freeman, of 114 Springdale Dr., Union, passed away, Tuesday, January 4, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Freeman was born in Union, March 1, 1933, a son of the late Alex and Sue Lea Freeman. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. Mr. Freeman was formerly a Chaplain at Union Housing Authority and DJJ, and he was instrumental in starting Hope Ministries.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years, are two sons, Steve Freeman and wife Patsy and David Freeman and wife Sandra; a daughter-in-law, Julie Freeman; three brothers, Harold Freeman and wife Muriel, Alex Freeman and Pryor Freeman; seven grandchildren, Josh Freeman and wife Cathy, Amanda Black and husband Jake, Lena Freeman, Jason Freeman and wife Jessie, Hilary Freeman, Kate Birdsong and husband Austin, and Michael Freeman; and twelve great-grandchildren. Mr. Freeman was predeceased by a son, Kerry Freeman and four siblings, Pete Freeman, James Freeman, Hilda Timmons and Ruth Foster.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, January 7, 2022, at Crestview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Josh Freeman and Rev. Roger Estes. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at Crestview Baptist Church.

The family is at the home, 114 Springdale Dr., Union.
