Reece O'Dell, Sr.

Mr. Walter Reece O'Dell, Sr., age 82 of 2104 Lockhart Hwy., Union, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mr. O'Dell was born in Union, July 11, 1940, a son of the late Howard E. O'Dell and Dorothy Vanderford O'Dell. He was a graduate of Union High School and attended Clemson University. Mr. O'Dell was retired from Bellsouth and became an active businessman in Union County. He owned and managed O'Dell's Café and later the Dari-O for many years. He currently owned O'Dell's Store and Produce. Mr. O'Dell was retired from the South Carolina National Guard. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He was first married to the late Norma Carpenter O'Dell and secondly to the late Darlene O'Dell.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Stallings and husband Rev. James Stallings of Myrtle Beach; a son, Walter Reece O'Dell, Jr. and wife Suzanne of Columbia; two grandsons, Kevin and Adams O'Dell; a sister, Dottie Mowbray and husband John of Lugoff; a brother, Mike O'Dell of Union; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Barry O'Dell.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Andrew Austin and Rev. James Stallings. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
