Reuben Lindsey Bishop

January 24, 2017 Mr. Reuben Lindsey Bishop, age 75, husband of Linda Varner Bishop of 283 Varner Rd., Union, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home. Mr. Bishop was born in Union, SC June 18, 1941, a son of the late John "J.T." Bishop and Kathryn Greer Bishop. He was a graduate of Spartanburg Community College and retired from Duke Energy. Mr. Bishop was a Veteran of the US Navy having served on the USS Essex. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Jason Bishop of Union; a sister, Rachel Bishop Kendrick and husband Eddie of Union; a sister-in-law, Joyce Gault Bishop of Union and two grandchildren, Landon Bishop and Braedon Bishop of Blackstock. Mr. Bishop was predeceased by a brother, Thomas M. Bishop. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 12:00 Noon Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Joe Wilson Smith and Rev. Russ Wilson. Visitation will be held 10:45-11:45 AM Thursday at the church prior to the service. The family would like to say a "Special Thank You" to Dr. Robert Yannetti and Blue Ridge Hospice.
