Rev. James D. Cunningham, Jr.

Rev. James Dupree “Jim” Cunningham, Jr., age 71, husband of Ann Jackson Cunningham of 125 Lower Fairforest Church Rd., Union, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 1, 2026.

Rev. Cunningham was born in Spartanburg, November 7, 1954, a son of the late James Dupree Cunningham, Sr. and Jenny Lind West Cunningham. He was a graduate of Dorman High School and Erskine Theological Seminary. Rev. Cunningham has served as pastor of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church for the past 30 years. He also worked with Neely Windows, Doors and More in Spartanburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife Ann of 46 years are two daughters, Amanda Gault and husband Jeremy of Georgetown and Ashley Sinclair and husband Eric of Travelers Rest; a brother, David Cunningham and wife Robyn of Gaffney, and his mother-in-law, Carolyn Jackson of Union. He is also survived by grandchildren, Penelope Sinclair, Ford Sinclair, Alister Sinclair, Caedmon Sinclair, and Isaac Gault. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Savannah Sinclair.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, May 4, 2026 at West Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mike Royal, Rev. Eric Sinclair and Rev. Jeremy Gault. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held immediately following the services.

Active pallbearers will be Tyler Cunningham, Jackie Smith, Cam Neely, Chris Duckett, Derrell Gault, and Terry Smith. Pastors of the Union County Baptist Association are asked to sit in a group.

The family will be at the home.
