Mr. Richard Wayne Davis, age 68, of 1241 Mudbridge Rd., Buffalo, widower of Rhonda McCutcheon Davis, passed away, July 22, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Davis was born July 8, 1958, in Union, a son of the late Lewis Davis and Betty Hawkins Davis. He attended Union High School. Mr. Davis retired from Global Felt Company and had previously worked at Timken—Tyger River Plant. He and his son enjoyed selling produce and boiled peanuts together and became well known for their delicious funnel cakes, which they served at events across South Carolina and North Carolina. One of Mr. Davis's greatest joys was watching his son race four-wheelers, and he cherished the many memories they made together. He also enjoyed shooting pool as a member of the APA Pool League and could often be found watching NASCAR, The Andy Griffith Show, or The Waltons. A loyal and devoted Gamecock fan, Mr. Davis rarely missed cheering on his favorite team.
Surviving are a son, Matthew Davis of the home; a granddaughter, Jordan Nahar and husband Aryan of Greenville; a brother, Steve Davis of Union; two sisters, Myria Cogdill of Buffalo and Elaine Robertson of Union; and his best friend, Tommy Mitchell of Union. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two daughters, Amanda D. Vaughan and Krissy Davis; and his beloved fur baby, Trixie Belle.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Alex Calhoun and Rev. Robert Jarvis.
The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Gail Betenbaugh, Carol Hughes, Elaine Gault, Alexis Burros, Pam White, Ed Sinclair, Barry Foster, his friends and co-workers from Global Felt and his pool shooting buddies.
