Mr. Richard Thomas "Tommy" Humphries, age 88, of Peach Orchard Rd., Union, widower of Dorothy Berry Humphries, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022.
Mr. Humphries was born in Shelby, NC, November 14, 1934, a son of the late Willie Lee Humphries and Vernie Odessa Horne Humphries. He was an active businessman in Union for many years and was owner of Humphries Trailer Park for over 55 years. Mr. Humphries was a veteran of the US Navy having served as a radio operator during the Korean War. He was the oldest surviving son of eight children.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann H. Clayton and husband John of Springfield, OH, and Lisa H. Rogers of Union; a son, Richard Stanley "Stan" Humphries and wife Missy of Silverstreet; a sister, Patricia McAbee; two brothers, Doug Humphries and wife Mamie Lou and Jim Humphries all of Union, and a special family friend, Katrina Ray. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jennifer C. Toney and husband Rob, David "Chris" Clayton and husband Larry, Tomi LaChance, Amber Bobo and husband Tony, Delaney Humphries and Bailey Humphries, and six great-grandchildren, Rachael, Samantha, Charlotte, and Catherine Toney, Ben Bobo and Parker Teseniar; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Humphries was predeceased by three sisters, Melva Lawson, Grace Parkins, and Carolyn McAbee and a brother, Dennis Humphries.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry conducted by Pastor Maria Perez-Miller. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Hardin, Katrina Ray, Tommy Lancaster, Timmy McAbee and Tony Bobo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church, PO Box 295, Union, SC 29379.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Lisa H. Rogers.
