Mr. Richard Arthur Owen, II, known to most as "Little Rick", husband of Wendy Barber Owen, of 100 Ashton Brooke Acres, Buffalo, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Owen was born February 1, 1958, in Union, to the late Richard A. Owen, Sr. and Barbara West Owen. Rick was a very proud old schooler, with real spirit and an endless supply of energy. He spent the majority of his adult life building a career doing what he loved, working with wood, as a cabinetmaker. Rick loved his family and enjoyed his lone hobby, fishing, whenever he could.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Richard A. "Tripp" Owen, III (Felicia) of Spartanburg, Daniel Andrew "Dru" Owen (Taylor) of the home, and Christopher David Scott (Kelly) of Prosperity; three grandchildren, Richard A. Owen, IV, Tyson Bentley Owen (Papa Rick's heart), and Richard Vance Augustus Owen. He is also survived by a brother, Charles A. "Tony" Owen (Kendreal) of Union and several nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by two brothers, Darrell Jay Owen and John Benjamin Owen.
The Owen family wishes to express their gratitude to Rick's extended family and the litany of friends for their compassion and support over the last year. Also, a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Care, with genuine and heartfelt thanks to the very special Ms. Cheryl Webb, RN, the primary caregiver who Rick was so grateful for.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday at the chapel prior to the services.
Due to the current health crisis, COVID guidelines for social distancing and wearing masks are to be observed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Care, 1530 Drayton Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
The family will be at the home, 100 Ashton Brooke Acres, Buffalo.
