Reverend Richard Hal Pendleton, Pastor Rick, went to be with Jesus August 29, 2015. Rick was born in Union, SC to Hal and Mildred McCarley Pendleton. He graduated from Union High School in 1975, Furman University in 1979 with a BA in Religion and South Eastern Seminary in 1983 with a Masters of Divinity. Reverend Pendleton has pastored for churches in Virginia, Florida and South Carolina. His longest tenure was at Concord Baptist Church in Frog Level Virginia, for over 15 years. His home church and last church was First Baptist of Union SC. Pastor Rick gave his life in humble faithful service to his God, his churches and his family. He was a devoted husband, father and brother. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donna Eubanks Pendleton, four children-Richard Reese Pendleton, a Golden Knight stationed with the US Army at Fort Bragg NC, Bethany Pendleton Howell, a 1st grade teacher at Foster Park Elementary, her husband Kole Howell and her son Kolton Howell, Leah Pendleton, who is pursuing her Master's in chemistry from Furman University, and Ethan Pendleton a second year cadet at The Citadel. He is also survived by two sisters: Debbie Pendleton Rector and her family-husband, Tommy Rector, daughter Suzy Lawson Garner, her husband Michael Garner and their sons Hayden and Houston; Sherrie Pendleton Callahan and her family-husband Mike Callahan and their children Katy Callahan Henderson, her husband Anthony Henderson, their daughter Sarah Hope Henderson and Mikey Callahan. A memorial service will be held 3:30 PM Thursday, September 3, 2015 at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Kevin James, Rev. Neil Keisler and Mr. Pat Gwinn. Deacons and staff of First Baptist Church and their families, members of the Union County Baptist Association and local ministers, members of the SC State Baptist Association, teachers of the Union County School District, the Concord Baptist Church Family of Virginia are asked to sit in a group. Visitation will be held 5:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the parsonage of First Baptist Church and also in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the services on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, General Fund, Food Ministry or Scholarship Fund, 405 E. Main St., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 165 Will Palmer Rd., Union.
