Mr. Richard Lee "Rick" Phillips passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, GA after a brief illness. Rick was born in Union on June 16, 1954, a son of Margie Phillips Hawkins of Union and the late Judson C. Phillips. Surviving in addition to his mother are two brothers, Michael "Mike" Phillips and wife Harriet of Spartanburg and Marty Phillips of Hanahan; his step-father, Burley Hawkins; two nephews, one niece, two great-nephews, two great-nieces and a number of special cousins. Rick was a graduate of Union High School and joined the US Air Force following graduation. He was also a graduate of the Air Force Academy in Denver, CO. He was employed with Fleur Daniels for many years. During these years, he was sent to Saudi Arabia as a project engineer. He had also worked for Greenwood, Inc. as a project engineer. Rick loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at his hunt club in Georgia. He also loved spending time with his dog "Lee". Rick was baptized as a young man and continued his walk with Christ. A memorial service will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Mosaic Church, 478 Columbia Industrial Blvd., Evans, GA, 30809.
