Rita (Belue) Sanders

Mrs. Rita Belue Sanders, age 74, wife of Wayne Sanders of 1029 Gaffney Hwy., Jonesville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

Mrs. Sanders was born in Union, April 18, 1950, a daughter of the late Calvin and Wilma Horne Belue. She received a degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina and received her Master's degree in Education from Converse College. She retired from the Union County School District having taught for over 28 years. Mrs. Sanders taught at Kelly Pinckney but she spent most of her career at Jonesville Elementary. She enjoyed sewing, reading, storytelling and the beach.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Greta S. Bailey and husband Travis of North Myrtle Beach; a son, Drew Sanders and wife Cassie of Jonesville; two sisters, Jean Jenkins and husband Ronnie of Jonesville and Joan Crain and husband Richard of Spartanburg. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Ella Bailey and a grandson, Andrew Smith. She was predeceased by a brother, Dwight Belue.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel conducted by Rev. Randy Burgess and Rev. Dr. Eddie Saxon. Burial will follow at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday at the Jonesville Chapel prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Jon Garner, Hal Garner, Josh Addis and Bailey Gregory.

Memorials may be made to the National Downs Syndrome Society, 1155 15th St. NW, Suite 540, Washington, DC 20005.

The family will be at the home, 1029 Gaffney Hwy., Jonesville, SC 29353.
