Robert Leroy Burgess

July 19, 2019 Mr. Robert Leroy Burgess, age 79, husband of Ada Williford Burgess of 135 Alice Lane, Union, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Burgess was born in Union, February 28, 1940, a son of the late Judson Burgess and Bertie Mae Lipsey Burgess Fowler. He was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Debra Lynn Dixon and husband Harold of Kings Mountain, NC; a son, Robert Allen Burgess of Hickory, NC; two step-daughters, Tracy Riley Harris and husband Harold of Union and Teresa Riley of Kings Mountain, NC; a sister, Ella Mae Worley of Sanford, NC and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Burgess was predeceased by two sisters, one brother and a step-daughter, Lisa Riley. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. The family will be at the home, 135 Alice Lane, Union.
