October 16, 2015 Lockhart, SC The family of celebrates his homecoming on October 16, 2015. He was born August 21, 1942 in Pauline, a son of the late R.C. Lawson and Mae M. Lawson. Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Nancy Cooper Lawson. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and the SC Criminal Justice Academy. Mr. Lawson was retired from the SC State Transport Police and was a member of Lockhart First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult II Sunday School Class. He was a lifetime member of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge #244 and the Union York Rite Bodies. Mr. Lawson was the loving father of Kim L. Clayton (Charles) and Tony Lawson (Lisa). Also surviving are four grandchildren: Haley C. Riddle (Joey), Kristin Clayton, Jack Lawson and Mason Lawson; three sisters: Ruby Gettys, Dot Gibson, and Betty Stepp and two special sisters, Pat V. Justus and Beth V. Bevis. Mr. Lawson was predeceased by a son, Bobby Lawson. "Greasy" as he was affectionately known by his friends, was far from ordinary and all who knew him would agree. He was always full of life and laughter; and no matter what, his love for his family and his love for the Lord was what was most important to him. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, October 18, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Lockhart conducted by Rev. Delos Blanton and Rev. Ben Hill. Burial will be in the Lockhart Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Pallbearers will be Gary Wright, Alvin Justus, Danny Williams, Greg Walker, Bobby Clayton, Fuzzy Woods, Harvey Peeler, Dean Bentley and Dale Inman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Adult II Sunday School Class, former co-workers of the State Transport Police, members of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge #244, Dr. Robert Wentz, Johnny Martin and Wayne Allen.
