Robert G. Sprouse, Jr.

July 11, 2017 Mr. Robert Gordon Sprouse, Jr., age 68, husband of Joan Vinson Sprouse of 311 Maple St., Union, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017. Mr. Sprouse was born in Union, November 25, 1948, a son of Robert G. Sprouse, Sr. of Buffalo and the late Dorothy Thrift Sprouse. He was a 1967 graduate of Union High School and graduated from the University of South Carolina, Union. Mr. Sprouse was retired as a quality engineer with Sagem in Greenville and was an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Mr. Sprouse had served his church as a past Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Building Committee and had served as a Trustee. He was a shriner and a life member of the Union Masonic Lodge #75. Surviving in addition to his father and wife are three daughters, Amy Price and husband Jeff, and Rebecca Sweezy all of Union and Michelle Timms and husband Jamie of Simpsonville; two sons, Bob Sprouse and wife Lori of Buffalo and Chris Nance and wife Melissa of Union; two brothers, Terry Sprouse and Scott Sprouse both of Buffalo; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mr. Sprouse was predeceased by a brother, Ricky Clyde Sprouse. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, July 14, 2017 at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey, Rev. David Brown and Mr. Terry Mitchell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:45 until 1:00 PM Friday at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 787, Jonesville, SC 29353. The family will be at their respective homes.
