Robert L. Svedlund

February 17, 2016 Mr. Robert Lee Svedlund, age 78 of 210 Hillcrest Dr., Union, widower of Carolyn Svedlund, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home. Mr. Svedlund was born in Paxton, IL, June 18, 1937, a son of the late Oscar Wilhelm Svedlund and Mary Johanna Jensen Svedlund. He was a graduate of Gibson City High School and was a member of First Christian Church in Illinois. Mr. Svedlund was a retired salesman having worked mostly in the automotive industry and he was also a veteran of the US Marine Corp. Mr. Svedlund was a member of the Union Shrine Club where he served as a past President and was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. He was also a member of the Union Elks Club. Surviving are two sons, Tim Svedlund and wife Melissa Barkley of Union and Steven Svedlund and wife Shannon of Georgia; six grandchildren, Nicole Thompson, Fallon Svedlund, Felicia Svedlund, Tara Barkley, Logan Svedlund and Samantha Svedlund; three great-grandchildren, Maryn Thompson, Addy Thompson and Zoey Garrison. A memorial service will be scheduled by the family for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
