Robert J. Vanderford, Sr.

Mr. Robert Jackson "Buddy" Vanderford, Sr., age 82, husband of Shirley Ham Vanderford of 215 Drugstore St., Buffalo, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Mary Black Hospital.

Mr. Vanderford was born in Union, July 3, 1939, a son of the late Malcolm Jack Vanderford and Bonnie Wilkie Vanderford. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Milliken and Co., Gillespie Plant after 46 years. Mr. Vanderford was a volunteer fireman for the Buffalo Fire Department for 20 years and retired from the S.C. National Guard, Lockhart Unit after serving 30 years. He was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley, are a daughter, Ellen Bennett and husband Richard of Jonesville; a son, Robert Vanderford and wife Emmi of Buffalo; three sisters, JoAnn Farmer of Union, Margie Thomasson and husband Willie of Greensboro, NC, and Fannie Garcia and husband Frank of Manteca, CA; a brother, Mack Vanderford of Union; three grandchildren, Brook Kelly, Kevin Bennett and Michael Bennett and one great-grandson, Titus Bennett. Mr. Vanderford was predeceased by three sisters, Ruby V. Stevens, Linda V. Spellman, and Betty V. Bates and two brothers, Charles Vanderford and an infant brother, Paul Vanderford.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 27, 2021, at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Minister Jerry Harris.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Ellen and Richard Bennett, 171 Spencer Rd., Jonesville, SC 29353.
