Robin Lawson Owensby

October 21, 2018 Mrs. Robin Lawson Owensby, age 64, wife of Ronald S. Owensby of 340 Pineneedle Rd., Union, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Union Medical Center. Mrs. Owensby was born in Phoenixville, PA April 6, 1954, a daughter of the late William Monroe "Cotton" Lawson and Rachel Reeder Lawson. She was a 1972 graduate of Union High School, 1974 graduate of USC-Union and a 1976 graduate of USC-Spartanburg with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Education. Mrs. Owensby retired from Union County Schools having worked at Foster Park Elementary School in the special needs and reading program. She worked in all aspects of Foster Park Elementary School from the PTA with her children to eventually retiring having assisted teachers with reading education. Mrs. Owensby was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church and a former member of Philippi Baptist Church. She loved books, gardening, and the beach. She was a lifelong Elvis fan. Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons: Rev. Steven Owensby and wife Caroline of Spartanburg, William R. Owensby and wife Brandi of Irmo and Richard L. Owensby of Columbia; five grandchildren: Robert Aaron, Rachel Caroline, Roslyn Elizabeth, Rebekah Marion and Aurora Joy; a sister, Roslyn L. Kingsmore and husband Jimmy of Buffalo and a brother, William Richard "Ricky" Lawson and wife Susan of Union. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Steven Owensby, Rev. Chris Gulledge and Rev. Benny Green. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be David Patrick, Brian Childers, Josh Lawson, Lynn Lawson, Kevin Farmer, Greg Lawson, Allen Cabaniss and Ronnie Yount. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Austin, Beth Wilson, Ollie Vaughan, Gail Hubbard and Amy Bobo. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Foreign Mission Offering through a Southern Baptist church or to Save the Children (Reading Program), % Foster Park Elementary School, 901 Arthur Blvd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 340 Pineneedle Rd., Union.
