Roger Stepp

Mr. Roger "Big Chew" Stepp, age 78, of Union, South Carolina, passed away on January 24, 2025.  He was born June 21, 1946, to the late Roy E Stepp and Mary Walker Stepp.

Mr. Stepp was a career pipe-fitter, working for various construction companies. He grew up in Lockhart where he finished school and was a member of Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Stepp is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Berry Stepp. He is also survived by a son, David E. Stepp and wife, Bonnie of Newport News, VA and a daughter Amy M. Stepp of Cameron, NC.  Surviving grandchildren are grandsons, Zachery Stepp, Charles Bauguess, Michael Dillon Snow and granddaughters, Haley Stepp, Jesse Stepp, and Amber Bauguess,  a great greatgrandson, Braydon Bauguess and great greatgranddaughters, Reannan Bauguess and Reece Bauguess. Other survivors are his brother in law Gene Berry (Susie), sister in law, Carrie Davis (Steve), sister in law, Shirley Berry and special friends, John Wayne and Peggy Baldwin.   In addiditon to his parents, Mr. Stepp was predeceased by his brother Berry and wife Betty Stepp, a great grandson, Tristan Riddle and a son in law, Michael Snow.

Funeral services for Mr. Stepp will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church at 3:30 PM conducted by Rev. Sam Bain and Rev. David Berry. Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM till 3:30 PM, prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Lockhart Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dale Inman, J B Powers, Brian Berry, Lance Davis, Lee Davis and Jackie Earls.

The family wants to express their special thanks to the staff at Union Post Acute for their care for Mr. Stepp.
