Rev. Ronald Jay Humes

July 31, 2018 Rev. Ronald Jay Humes, age 86, of 138 Bombing Range Rd., Union, husband of Joan M Stephens Humes of twelve years, went to be with the Lord on Monday July 30, 2018. Rev. Humes was born in Knox, Indiana, September 27, 1931, a son of the late Eljay B Humes and Mildred Eskridge Humes. He was a high school graduate and a graduate of Bible Baptist College in Springfield, Missouri. Rev. Humes was a retired minister following fifty years of service. He pastored churches in Union such as Crestview Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church, as well as churches in Indiana. Rev. Humes was first married 50 years to the late Martha Fincher Humes. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Charles J Humes of Florida; three step sons, Donald L Stephens and wife Denise of Florida, Bryan Stephens and wife Dawn of Union, and C. Neil Stephens and wife Stacey of Florida; fifteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews, including, Susie Thomas, Penny Anderson and husband Tim, Missy Clark and husband Neil, Michael Carroccio, William "Bubby" Carroccio, and Ron Voreis. Rev. Humes was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Carroccio and Ruth Voreis. A Celebration of Life will be held at Padgett's Creek Baptist Church, 2:00 PM Friday, August 3, 2018. Services will be conducted by Rev. Carrol Caldwell and Mr. R.D. Murphy. Visitation will be held from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Padgett's Creek Baptist Church Children's Playground Fund, 843 Old Buncombe Rd., Union. The family will be at the home, 138 Bombing Range Rd., Union.
