Roy Eugene Aiken

November 25, 2018 Mr. Roy Eugene Aiken, age 93, widower of Mary Nell Whitfield Aiken, of 105 McPherson St., Union, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Aiken was born in Anderson, December 6, 1924, a son of the late Henry Neal Aiken and Minnie Orr Aiken. He retired as plant engineer with United Merchants and Manufacturing, Union Plant. Mr. Aiken was a veteran of the US Navy having served in the European Theater and participating in the Normandy invasion on D-Day. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are a daughter, Mary E. "Jean" Aiken Vaughan and husband Terry of Union; a son, Donald E. Aiken and wife Delois of Loris, SC; six grandchildren: Terry W. Vaughan, Jr. and wife Holly, Brian Scott Vaughan, Trina Nicole Vaughan Hardin and husband Brian, Amber Aiken Rhodes and husband Randy, Shawnna Aiken Dew and husband Jarrod and Darren Edwin Aiken and wife Jennifer; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Vaughn. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Jean and Terry Vaughan, 113 Springdale Dr., Union.
