Roy Bernard Rector

Mr. Roy Bernard Rector, age 88, of 111 Fairbanks St., Jonesville, widower of Iris June Rector, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at his home. Mr. Rector was born November 11, 1930 in Jonesville, a son of the late Thomas E. Rector, Sr. and Hattie Pauline Gault Rector. He was retired from J.P. Stevens as a Supervisor. Mr. Rector was retired from the South Carolina National Guards having served 38 years and was a member of the NCO Club. He was a member of Gilead Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and a Teller. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 29 of Jonesville and was a Shriner where he was a member of the 32 degrees. Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Doster of Jonesville; a son, Michael Rector and wife Alice of Jonesville; two "sisters" that were raised in the home, Harriett Moss of Jonesville and Nita Kennedy of Winder, GA ; a brother-in-law, Donald Proctor and wife Betty of Jonesville; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Tessner and husband Ken and Diane Gault and husband Richard all of Jonesville; two grandsons, Dylan Doster and wife Natasha and Derek Doster all of Jonesville; four granddaughters, Kristy Miranda of Jonesville, Jessica Rector of Jonesville, Michelle Rohm of Roebuck, and Jessecca Rohm of Roebuck; a number of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patty Denise Rector; two sisters, Lucille R. Humphries and Frances P. Rector; and five brothers, James T. Rector, Thomas E. Rector, Jr., Charles L. Rector, Earl G. Rector, and Sam Rector. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Eddie Saxon and Rev. Ralph Brown. Burial with full Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Rector, Barry Moss, Brandon Smith, Ben Rogers, Scott Kennedy, Donald Proctor, Tommy Ivey, and Eugene Rector. Mr. Rector's Sunday School Class at Gilead Baptist Church and members of American Legion Post 129 are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort. At the request of Mr. Rector, friends, former members and members of Masonic Lodge #29 are welcome to the Graveside Masonic Rites. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the Church. The family is at the home, 111 Fairbanks St., Jonesville, SC 29353.
