Mrs. Ruby Maness Ford, age 96, widow of James Walter Ford to whom she was married for more than 66 years, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Born June 7, 1926, in Nora, VA, she was a daughter of the late Sterling S. and Charity Minor Maness. A graduate of Union High School, Mrs. Ford was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and retired after working 44 years as a spinner for the Buffalo Plant of United Merchants and Manufacturing, Inc.
Mrs. Ford is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Dennis Langley of Union; a granddaughter, Dr. Katherine Langley Cash, her husband Garrett, and their sons James and Thomas; and a grandson, Michael Langley, his wife Ashley, and their daughters Annabelle and Sterling all of Spartanburg. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Maness; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Maness; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ford was predeceased by three sisters and their husbands, Fred and Cecil Smith, Valice Maness, and Charles and Fannie Barker; five brothers and their wives, Elmer and Audrey Maness, Lloyd and Edna Maness, Ralph and Valerie Maness, Glennis and Virginia Maness, and Henry Maness; and a sister-in-law, Mary Maness.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday morning, July 26, at 11:00 AM at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Doug Estes and Mrs. Ford's nephew, Mr. Jimmy Maness.
The family will receive friends following the service at the home of her niece and nephew, Linda and Jack Kelly, at 113 West South Street, Union.
