Ruby Sherbert Freeman

Mrs. Ruby Sherbert Freeman, age 91, of 114 Springdale Drive, Union, widow of Ray Wilson Freeman, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Freeman was born in Putman on September 29, 1934, a daughter of the late Dansel and Lena Smith Sherbert. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired as Office Manager of Union Camp. Mrs. Freeman was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

Those left to carry on her memory are a son, David Freeman and wife Sandra; two daughters-in-law, Patsy Freeman and Julie Freeman; seven grandchildren, Josh Freeman and wife Cathy, Amanda Black and husband Jake, Lena Bobo and husband Austin, Jason Freeman, Hilary Freeman, Kate Birdsong and husband Austin and Michael Freeman; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Freeman was predeceased by two sons, Steve Freeman and Kerry Freeman, two siblings Dennis Sherbert and Glenn Sherbert and her stepmother, Gertrude Sherbert.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Crestview Baptist Church.  Visitation will be held immediately following the services.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Freeman’s caretaker, Ruth Sherbert, Agape Hospice, especially Keri Adams, Rebecca Stanley, Scarlett Bevis and Jamie Duncan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, 1100 Furman L. Fendley Highway, Union, SC 29379.
