Ruby P. Howell

May 30, 2016 Mrs. Ruby Pridemore Howell, age 85, widow of Van William "Bill" Howell, formerly of Gregory St., Union, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Ellen Sagar Nursing home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Howell was born in Union, September 9, 1930, a daughter of the late Ray E. Pridemore and Lilly Moody Pridemore. She was a faithful member of Fairforest Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher, a member of the WMU, a member of the Young at Heart and worked with the Vacation Bible School program. Mrs. Howell was also a member of the Hostess Committee of the church and wrote for the Fairforest News and more. She taught with the Adult Literacy program of Union Co. and loved geneology. Mrs. Howell was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are two daughters, Vonnie H. Smith and husband Jimmy of Buffalo and Brenda H. McMillian of Union; three sons, Keith Howell and wife Cathy, Calvin Howell and wife Julie and Kerry Flowers all of Union; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Howell was predeceased by infant twin daughters, Elaine and Eileen Howell; two sisters, Joyce P. Morris and Essie P. Bolding and a brother, Ray Ernest Pridemore. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Aubrey Calvert and Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as the active pallbearers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff and nurses of Medi Home Hospice, Dr. David Keith, Dr. Robert Wentz and the staff and nurses of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home for their care of Mrs. Howell and they are asked to sit in a group for the services. Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 1:45 Tuesday at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family will be at their respective homes.
