Ruby Smith Morris

December 11, 2018 Mrs. Ruby Smith Morris, age 92, formerly of Davis St., Union, widow of Claude Morris, passed away Saturday December 8, 2018 at her daughter's home in Frankfort, KY. Mrs. Morris was born February 9, 1926 in Union, a daughter of the late Henry W. and Julia Ann Scales Smith. She was first married to the late Melvin Alexander. Mrs. Morris retired from the drawing room at United Merchants-Union Plant. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Morris enjoyed talking to her family and friends on her front porch, cooking, bingo, and raising, selling, and harvesting pecans. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia King and friend Tony Stratton of Frankfort, KY and Shirby Duckett of Union; grandchildren Dewayne King and wife Vera Frankfort, KY, Cathy Wood and husband Joel, Tammy Parker and husband Ronald all of Union, Pam Teal and friend Jim of Greenwood and Jamie Stratton and husband Shawn of NC and a number of great and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Morris was predeceased by a daughter, Juanita Williams and a grandson, Jimbo Gentry. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Fairview Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Ross Wilson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Bluegrass Care Navigators, especially Sherry, Carissa, Lisa and Jennifer for their care of Mrs. Morris and her family during her illness.
