Mr. Rudy Eugene Smith, age 84, husband of Carolyn Ruth Sims Smith of 1112 Tuckertown Rd., Union, passed away, Friday, January 8, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mr. Smith was born June 15, 1936 in Winnsboro, a son of the late D.F. Smith and Daisy Smith Smith.  He was a graduate of Whitmire High School and attended Newberry College.  Mr. Smith retired after 40 years from Cone Mill—Carlisle Finishing.  He was a member of Whitmire United Methodist Church.  Mr. Smith was a Veteran of the South Carolina National Guard.  He was a Mason, a Shriner, and an avid golfer.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years are a daughter, Ann Christian of Union; a son Ricky Smith and wife Wendy of Union; two sisters, Shirley Botzis of Charleston and Virginia McCaskill of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Matt Christian and wife Jordan of Anderson, Jennifer Gibson and husband Adam of Union, Josh Christian and wife Krystal of Simpsonville, and Tiffany Pridemore and husband Josh of Union; and six great-grandchildren, Rylan Christian, Natalie Pridemore, Nolan Christian, Charlie Gisbon, Joseph Christian, and Sullivan Christian.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 11, 2020 at Whitmire United Methodist Church conducted by Mr. Jesse Baker, Mr. Whitney Smith, and Mr. Chad Ponder.

Active pallbearers will be Matt Christian, Josh Christian, Josh Pridemore, Adam Gibson, and Randy Steadman.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the Church.

The family is at the home of his son, Ricky Smith, 420 Santuc Dr., Union, SC 29379.
