Russ Johnson

January 27, 2017 Mr. Eugene Russell "Russ" Johnson, III, age 52, husband of Jenny Rankin Johnson of 707 Fernwood Dr., Spartanburg, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017. Mr. Johnson was born in Spartanburg, May 7, 1964 a son of Kay Layton White of Wilmington, NC and Eugene Russell Johnson, Jr. and wife Pheobe of West Springs. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended USC-Upstate. He held many positions in sales in the car and restaurant industries. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the US Air Force and a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and attended Westminister Presbyterian Church. Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a daughter, Layton Foxworth Rankin of FL; a son, Eugene Russell "Rusty" Johnson, IV; two step-brothers and his beloved puppies, Tank and Talley. Mr. Johnson was predeceased by a brother, Walter Todd Johnson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Don Alexander. The family will receive friends immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 2030 North Church Place, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
