May 18, 2019 Mrs. Sallie Ann Koon Jones, age 89, widow of William E. "Bill" Jones of 1410 Whitmire Hwy., Union passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Pearl at Five Forks in Simpsonville, SC. Mrs. Jones was born in the Adamsburg community of Union Co., November 4, 1929, a daughter of the late Sam and Gustie Gregory Koon. Sallie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a wonderful cook. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Grace United Methodist Care Group. Sallie and her husband Bill volunteered together for the Union County Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a daughter, Donna L. Brooks and husband Brian of Indianapolis, Indiana; a son William "Dennis" Jones and wife Becky of Simpsonville; five grandchildren, Nicholas Jones and wife Clare, Rachel Jones, Christopher Brooks and wife Melissa, Jennifer Brooks Jones and husband Bill and Lauryn Wilson; great-grandchildren, Alivia, Andrew, Landen, Brooklyn and Serenity. Sallie was predeceased by a daughter Debra Jones Wilson, a sister Frances Long and a brother Wesley Koon. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the S.R Holcombe Chapel conducted by the Rev. David Bauknight. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jamie Long, Patrick Long, Will Long, Charlie Long, Chris Brooks and Nicholas Jones. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Laurens County, 1304 Springdale Dr. Clinton, SC 29325.
