Sally Thomson Parker passed away peacefully at home in Union, Monday July 17, 2017. She was born August 26, 1927 in Arden, North Carolina, the daughter of John Herndon and Dorothy Harris Thomson. She grew up in New Orleans attending her beloved Country Day School and then attending Newcomb College. The family spent every summer in Union with family and friends. She met James Munroe Parker on a blind date and they were married on June 12, 1948. They moved to raise their family on the coast of Southern California. The pilgrimage back to the south every summer continued, sometimes to New Orleans to see our dear cousins, and sometimes to Union to visit the Home Place and the farm. Sally moved to Union permanently in 1995 and had wonderful life doing all of her favorite things: birdwatching, painting, singing, and making music with her friends at the Union Arts Council. She loved and protected all of God's creatures and took great comfort in her little dog Puck in the last year's. Sally is survived by her brother John and his wife Lucia, her five children that she loved dearly, Lucy and her husband Bob Prim, Sarah and her husband Ken, James, John, and Emma, three grandchildren Rob and James Prim, and Katherine Parker. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity conducted by Father Wayman Henry. The family will have visitation after the services at the home on Herndon Terrace.
