Sanford Clayton

Mr. Sanford "Sam" Clayton, age 89, of 3955 Jonesville Lockhart Hwy., Union, widower of Deloris Belue Clayton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Mr. Clayton was born in Chick Springs (Greenville Co.) February 29, 1936, a son of the late Lester Lee Clayton and Helen Ford Clayton. He retired from Milliken and Co. and was a member of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge #244. Mr. Clayton was a veteran of the US Marine Corp having served during peacetime. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are two sons, Jeff Clayton and wife Dawn of Union and Kenny Clayton of the home; grandchildren, Michael Clayton and wife Amber, Jennifer Beehner and husband Nick, Garrett Clayton, Trey Smith and Morgan Robertson and husband Jake; great-grandchildren, Jacob Clayton, Hailey Clayton, Kane Beehner, Abby Beehner, Eli Beehner and Sam Robertson. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Walker and Pauline Hefner and two brothers, Lewis Clayton and Bobby Clayton.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Agape Care of South Carolina and Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum for care given to Mr. Clayton during his illness.

Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Steve Lemons.

Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the services.
