December 23, 2017 Mrs. Sara Henrietta Bass Sistrunk, age 84, of 205 Oakdale Ave., Carlisle, widow of William M. Sistrunk, Sr., passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Sistrunk was born in Chester, October 8, 1933, a daughter of the late John Joe Bass and Carry Lou Feaster Bass. She was a graduate of the S.C. School for the Deaf and Blind in Spartanburg and was retired from Milliken and Co., Monarch Plant. Mrs. Sistrunk was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was active in the Deaf Ministry. She was a former member of the S.C. Association for the Deaf, Broad River Chapter. Mrs. Sistrunk was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a daughter, Jeanne Prince and husband John of Sumter; two sons, John Sistrunk and wife Shelly of Carlisle and Rev. William M. Sistrunk, Jr. of Williamston; a special sister, "Aunt" Betty Epting of Carlisle; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Erdin, John Prince, III, Nicole Phillips, Ezelis Sanderson, Elizabeth Sistrunk, William M. Sistrunk, III, Ethan Sistrunk, Erin Hartley, Ashley Larson, and Holli Ebner; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sistrunk was predeceased by three sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chris Gulledge, Rev. Alvin Biggerstaff, and Deaf Minister, Rev. William M. Sistrunk, Jr. Burial will be in Chester Memorial Gardens, Chester, SC. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church, Deaf Ministry, 1431 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 205 Oakdale Ave., Carlisle, SC.
