Sara Geneva Valentine

January, 23, 2019 Ms. Sara Geneva Valentine, age 96, formerly of East Hillcrest Ave., Union, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home. Ms. Valentine was born February 21, 1922 in Pacolet, a daughter of the late Kelly Valentine and Bertie Mae Lawson Valentine. She was retired from United Merchants-Union Mill. Ms. Valentine was a member of Westside Baptist Church. "Nemo" as she was affectionately known became a mother to her younger brothers and sisters and was a second mother to her nieces and nephews. Later "Nemo" was Grandmother to younger generations of her family. Surviving are a brother, Dean Valentine and wife Rowena of Spartanburg and numerous special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five siblings, Earl Valentine (Alice), Hazel Self (Bennie), Geraldine Morrow (Charles), Herman Smith Valentine, and James "Pap" Valentine (Alma). Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Wayne Cooke. Active pallbearers will be Neil Valentine, Lanny Valentine, Rob Valentine, David Valentine, Kevin Morrow, and Steve Morrow. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 AM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family is at their respective homes.
